Grilled Beef & Vegetable Kebabs

1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1 bay leaf
3/4 C olive oil
3/4 C red wine or beef broth
1 1/2 pounds sirloin, cut into 1 1/2" chunks
1 green bell pepper, cut in 1" chunks
1 red bell pepper, cut in 1" chunks
1 red onion, cut in 1" chunks
12 medium mushrooms, stems removed

Mix salt, pepper, garlic, thyme, oregano, bay, olive oil and wine in shallow dish. Reserve about 1/3 of the marinade for basting. Add beef to dish; toss to coat. Refrigerate, covered, 30 minutes. Preheat grill or broiler. Drain beef. Discard marinade in dish. Thread beef, mushrooms, peppers and onion alternately onto skewers. Grill or broil kebabs, turning and basting frequently, for about 15 minutes for medium doneness.
