Classic Spanish Sangria

From All Recipes

1 lemon
1 lime
1 orange
1 1/2 C rum
1/2 C white sugar
1 (750ml) bottle dry red wine
1 C orange juice

Have the fruit, rum, wine, and orange juice well chilled. Slice the fruit into thin rounds and place in a large glass pitcher. Pour in the rum and sugar. Chill 2 hours. When ready to serve, crush fruit lightly with a wooden spoon and stir in the wine and orange juice. Adjust sweetness to taste.

My adaptations: Blackberry Merlot for wine, spiced rum. top each serving with sprite. when pitcher is empty, fill with remaining sprite to soak up the juices left in the fruit for a more "mellow" version
